Absinthe Green: Green Fairy or Greek Goddess?
Frank A. Fiorello; peace, love, and a loaded gun.
There is nothing better than a nice glass of Absinthe and getting lost with the Green Fairy. Absinthe Green is not the same. She will however fill your soul with real life, in your face lyrics about life, love, and emotions. All the stuff this wild and crazy life is made of. She is Eirini “Absinthe Green” Papadopoulou.
Eirini “Absinthe Green” Papadopoulou grew up in Peloponnese Greece ,where there was not much of a music scene. She has been performing, writing and playing music since early childhood. Her father was the reason for her path in music and by the time she was six years old she had written and performed as a singer.
Absinthe Green in the year 2000 was playing in cover bands singing and playing keyboards. Her start was in classic rock and metal. In 2003 Absinthe Green founded her first band Deranged, a thrash metal band that was short-lived due to members having to go on because of military and school obligations. Deranged was able to document their time together with a recorded EP titled Full Blown Madness.
Over the next few years Absinthe Green studied classic and modern singing along with musical studies at university. She also played with several bands during this time including Art of Negation as a singer and songwriter, industrial Gothic metal band Mora as a bass player and backing vocalist, Athenian dark metal band Randomwalk as a bassist. Green left Randomwalk after the release of their second studio album, entitled Absolution.
Moving to Germany in 2011 Green joined Enemy Of The Sun ,a thrash metal band of the metal producer Waldemar Sorychta. They parted ways a year later due to creative differences. After that Eirini Papadopoulou went on to create music for what would become Absinthe Green in 2016.
The line-up would include former RandomWalk bandmate Harry Mason on drums, Villy Pirris on bass and Mike Dervos on guitar, Absinthe Green was founded. With a unique, heavy sound that is a mixture of the evolution of a musician that has traveled many paths of musical experience. Releasing their first single with the album “Of Love and Pain” coming in 2023. Absinthe Green will be bringing the show to stages as well as more music videos. The latter, I must confess, are amazing productions of stunning visuals that leave you feeling all types of ways from seductive to cringe.
I would recommend you check out Absinthe Green. They are ‘kicking out the jams’ and those jams have powerful, yet poetic and deeply meaningful songs about love, loss, society, all delivered with a graceful yet raw and brutal way about them.
